Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2008)
to supplement the
Mental Health Capacity Act (2005)
HUBB Mental Health User Group is the statutory IMCA provider for clients in Havering, Barking and Dagenham.
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) (2008) came into effect from 1st April 2009 in line with the Amendments to the Mental Health Act (2007).
Deprivation of Liberty is an agreed time specific care plan for people who need to be detained to keep them safe.
Clients who are subject to ‘DoLS’ are entitled to representation under the Capacity Act from the IMCA service and also to a paid representative in the absence of an unpaid representative.
