Kay was brought up in England though she has Turkish Cypriot roots.  Originally from North London she started her career as a secretary. Kay later moved to Dagenham where the Turkish population increase led to a need for Interpreters.  Starting with voluntary work for Severe Learning Disability Schools for Children Kay moved on to do voluntary work with the Language Support Service for other schools in the borough and followed this doing paid advocacy and interpreting work for Translation & Interpreting Service (TIS) for 9 yrs.

Kay attended the East London University where she completed Interpreting and Advocacy qualifications.  Her interest in mental health began at the age of 12 when she discovered that she lost an uncle in his mid 20’s who died in an institution were he had been kept from a very young age.   In 1998 she became an advocate for mental health service users.  Kay is determined to make a difference to people’s lives by providing top quality support.  Those that know Kay would say she is fun, approachable, easy to talk to, and of a caring nature.
